Canadian ITER bid to die

Well the Canadians have pulled out of the race to site the ITER site and it leaves it a three horse race between Spain, France and Japan. They are not formally withdrawing, but are doing it using a series of well thought out and well conceived set of inaction’s and by them generally doing bugger all. It is unbelievable how most countries would bite your arm off to have the biggest science project mankind has ever envisaged, but the Canadians are a little scared that it may cost them too much money. Perhaps they must of missed that it will mean a huge increase in jobs, lots and lots of supporting business and jobs and will mean loads of visitors and other people turning up and handing them their hard earned cash in to the governments hands. Good didn't want to go there anyway. COME ON SPAIN

Good Article about ITER in the Guardian recently.

ATHLETICO COWLEY
I play for a six-a-side team called Athletico Cowley and yesterday we gave the Didcot Saints a good shoeing 3-1 putting us 4th in the league and if we win our game in hand we'll go 2nd, 1pt behind the leaders (PSV). This is a third win on the trot. Come on Cowley

Had my mum round on sunday for dinner, cooked a fantastic Bouef Bourguignonne (thats Beef Bourguignonne for those of you that dont speak French!). And Jim made two cakes, an almond and raspberry tort and a fruit cake both of which were devoured at work on Monday along with the passion fruit sponge cake that I made. I cannot extol enough the therapeutic benefits of baking cakes, this is my second one now and I cant beleive how easy it is. I use Delias all in one method whichis the following: 175g of caster sugar, self raising flour and butter, 3 large eggs and a teaspoon of baking powder. All in the bowl and mix together, then spread it between 2 8 inch cake tins and bake for 30 to 35 mins. Well done you have just made your first cake, piece of cake!! From this basic recipie you can now make literally hundreds of mouth watering combinations!! So come on chaps have a go, trust me its a great feeling eating a cake that you have baked yourself, post your recipies on the blog now!!!

I watched a film called Donnie Darko on Saturday. It was absolutely brilliant as mas as anything. The film is about a kid who spends his days talking to his shrink and being told to kneck loads of prescribed drugs. OK I will get down to the nitty gritty, the film really kicks off when he begins talking to his 6ft nightmare looking bunny called Frank this is where it gets all mental!!!! I won't spoil it for you and would be bold enough to beleive I got the finer points of it either just watch the thing. The website is amasing site that complements the film perfectly Donnie Darko review

This book by John Wesson called 'The Science of Jet' is about the project I work on and tells it in a fairly easy manner. John Wesson is quite an interesting character he has also written the fusion bible called Tokamak and the book "The Science of Soccer". They are not the most related of subjects

China hails its first man in space

Go on China. This is great for the future of mankind in space as it will scare the wotsits out of the Americans!!!! A lot of people have said that they can't beleive a nation where so many of their population go hungry they are spending so much money no a space program. I happen to think that the actual money they are spending is actually very small and the actual high tech business they will get from the extra prestige of being only the third nation to launch a astronaut (should I say taikonaut - derived from taikong, space). I am going to buy a China footy top, in support for their space program!!! Lets get the space race on again. Let me go to the moon

Ian and Laura's 30th Birthday Doo!!

What a weekend in Malvern and Cheltenham with a 'I love 1973' party for Ians and Laura's 30th and I haven't laughed as much in ages. The amount of enthusiasm for grown adults to jump around in stupid clothes and wigs was alarming, with Slater winning the prize for best hair. T who had just come from the shooting of the beastie boy sabotage video was in full rock and roll mode after a good pint and a half of shandy bass, Wheels was in full cheese mode and we even had a guest appearance from Joff and Mark 'do you like my groovy pyjama's' Midwinter. I think I am going to have to buy myself a elvis suit as from time to time we all need to be the king. By the way Matty this is sooooo wrong

Fuel price rebels call on drivers to block roads

Well I was on the road at 8:30 to do my anti-protest where I was going to be sure that I was moving for 60 seconds, but nobody could be bothered. What is the point of an anti-protest if no one is protesting!!! Are people beginning to understand that it may be a waste to use up this special resource on driving that single kid in your 4 Litre 4X4 to a school only 200 yards away on the difficult and rocky terrain of West Hampstead
